Two architects, Lara Nobel and Andrew Carter, and builder Greg Thornton worked together to create Portal, the flagship design for The Tiny House Company located in Brisbane, Australia.
This 18 square meter (~193 square foot) tiny house contains high-end detailing and fixtures, a custom-designed retractable bed, and custom cabinetry.
The modern aesthetics create a spacious feel while incorporating recycled hardwood lends to the environmental responsibility they were seeking. All of the decking boards are recycled and the wood doors came from old Queensland cottages.
The functional design of the house allows for good cross ventilation so the air comes in through the bottom windows and the hot air rises and is released through the high louvres. This allows them to live in a sub-tropical climate without air conditioning.
Lara Nobel and Andrew Carter are now living in the house with their newborn daughter, Charlie. To view more details on the design and ideas that went into building this tiny house, you can visit their website at The Tiny House Company.
