Marie, after welcoming many guests to the Mas des Écoliers in Châteaurenard, near Avignon, France, decided to expand her accommodation offerings with a structure that would be both elegant and environmentally conscious. She brought her vision to Plume Habitat at the end of 2022, aiming for a design that would contrast the traditional stone buildings while remaining upscale and mindful of the environment.
The project required a balance between luxury and sustainability, featuring a design that would integrate seamlessly into the Mediterranean garden. A large canopy was included in the design to offer expansive views of the surrounding natural beauty.
The structure itself was conceived as a ground-level “tin tiny house,” measuring 3.5 meters in height—lower than the usual 4.2 meters in Plume Habitat’s designs, which often include mezzanines. This layout was specifically intended for couples, offering a cozy retreat without the need for elevated sleeping arrangements.
A notable challenge in this project was incorporating Ecodomeo’s mechanized dry toilets into the compact space, showcasing these eco-friendly, French-made systems in a refined setting.
Technical Features:
- Construction: The frame is built with Spicy Ossature CL II, insulated with recycled cotton wool. The chassis is made of hot-dip galvanized steel with braked double axles.

- Utilities: A multilayer plumbing network with crimped connectors and copper pipes is installed, along with a 40L electric water heater. The power grid is equipped with Legrand and Schneider components. The photovoltaic system includes a 1200 W setup with a 230V hybrid converter and Victron lithium batteries.

- A raised dining table and a 2-seater seat with integrated storage.
- Heating is provided by a 1500 W electric radiator and a 3kW wood stove.
